A Fuzzy Autopick System
Picking of arrivals is a tricky business. To build a program that
can replace a human is beyond the reach of any mortal programmer.
No number-crunching hardware can approach the pattern-matching skill of a
biological system - to try with modern equipment is to invite failure.
Therefore, strive not to replace the human picker, but rather, to
augment the human so that picking may be done faster, better, cheaper.
Strive to build a program that can free the human from the easy picks;
the mundane portion of the data that occupies so much time and space.
Leave only the hard, complicated, traces for the human. There are many
fewer of these, and so the human is happy, and the results are good.
